PLAN COMPARISON MATRIX

The Two Primary Paths

Understanding the emotional and financial differences between Medigap and Medicare Advantage is the critical first step to finding your ideal fit.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap)

Designed for predictability and complete freedom of choice.

  • Ultimate Freedom: See any doctor or hospital that accepts Medicare nationwide.
  • Financial Peace: Minimal to zero unexpected medical bills for covered services.
  • Predictable Costs: Higher monthly premium, but low back-end expenses.
  • No Referrals: See specialists directly without needing prior approval.
  • Standalone Parts: Requires a separate Part D plan for prescriptions.
VS

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

Designed for lower monthly premiums and all-in-one convenience.

  • Network-Based Care: Must use plan's network of doctors (HMO/PPO).
  • Pay-As-You-Go: Lower upfront premiums, but copays for services.
  • All-In-One: Often includes Part D prescription drug coverage.
  • Extra Perks: May include dental, vision, hearing, and gym memberships.
  • Out-of-Pocket Max: Built-in safety net limits your yearly spending.

MEDICARE ADVANTAGE EXPLAINED

Demystifying Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage (Part C) combines your coverage into a single plan. Understanding the three primary network types is the first step to choosing the right fit for your healthcare needs and budget.

HMO Network

Health Maintenance Organizations offer the most structure, requiring you to stay within a specified network of doctors and hospitals.

  • In-network providers only (except emergencies)
  • Referrals required to see specialists
  • Primary Care Physician (PCP) acts as your central guide
  • Typically features lower monthly premiums

PPO Network

Preferred Provider Organizations give you broader flexibility to direct your own care, allowing visits outside the core network.

  • Freedom to use out-of-network doctors
  • No referrals needed for specialists
  • Lower costs when using preferred providers
  • Higher flexibility with varied cost-sharing

HMO-POS

A hybrid Point-of-Service plan that blends the structure of an HMO with the out-of-network flexibility typical of a PPO.

  • Structured in-network primary care
  • Limited out-of-network options for specific services
  • Balances cost control with occasional flexibility
  • May require referrals for outside specialists

SUPPLEMENTAL COVERAGE

Your Medigap Guide

Original Medicare covers a lot, but it doesn't cover everything. Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plans step in to pay the deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance that Medicare leaves behind. By filling these gaps, Medigap provides you with financial predictability and peace of mind when facing medical expenses.

Plan G

The most comprehensive coverage available for new beneficiaries. It covers 100% of the gaps left by Original Medicare after you meet your annual Part B deductible.

High Deductible Plan G

Offers the same robust coverage as standard Plan G, but requires you to meet a higher out-of-pocket deductible first. Ideal for those who want lower monthly premiums.

High Deductible Plan F

A legacy plan that functions similarly to High Deductible Plan G. It is only available to individuals who were eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020.

2026 Part D Updates

$0
2026 DEDUCTIBLE
$0
TROOP LIMIT

These baseline figures represent the standard thresholds for 2026. However, your ideal drug plan is built around your specific, individual medication needs—not just the baseline numbers. We help you analyze your prescriptions to find the most cost-effective coverage for your unique health profile.
